NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) has approved wheeling auctions policy allowing wheeling auctions for big power buyer, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
According to NEPRA, wheeling process will enable large consumers to buy electricity directly from power plants. Now bulk, industrial consumers will be able to use the transmission system of power companies directly through the wheeling process.
The power buyers will pay wheeling charges for using the transmission and distribution system. The federal government has a program of 800 MW wheeling action. The NEPRA directs immediate operationalization of auction process. The NEPRA took decision on draft submitted by Independent System and Market Operator.
The NEPRA had sought public comments on draft of auction process within 10 days.
