A policeman was seriously injured when unknown armed men opened fire on him during duty with a polio team near Ishaqzai Fort in Chaman, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The seriously injured policeman has been shifted to Civil Hospital Chaman.
However, the polio team is safe and has been evacuated from the area.
The police have been dispatched to the scene of the incident.
The injured policeman has been identified as Habib-ur-Rehman.
Polio influencer tortured in Karachi
Also on Sunday, unidentified persons tried to kidnap a polio influencer near Islam Chowk in Karachi's Orangi Town locality. They also tortured him.
Ghulam Ali Askani, the victim, said that the assailants came in a car and motorcycles. "They tried to bundle me into a car and beat me up," he said, adding that prior to today's incident, he had also received threatening calls.
