In an important statement on the proposed US-Iran peace deal, President Donald Trump has said that the parties to the conflict have reached an agreement on most of the points of the deal; however, there are some points which are still under review, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
In a statement on social media, he has said that soon he will make an important announcement in this regard.
He has said that the Strait of Hormuz will be opened for ships following the agreement.However, Trump stopped short of giving details of the deal.
The president has said that he has talked to the leaders of several Muslim countries and will continue to speak to them over the issue. “I have also talked to Field Marshal Asim Munir, Saudi Crown Prince, Emir of Qatar and Qatar’s prime minister,” Trump has said, adding that similarly he has also had telephonic conversations with the presidents of Turkiye and Egypt.
He has further said that he has informed the Israeli prime minister of the progress made on this front. US President Donald Trump will today address a conference call on the draft of the proposed peace deal with Iran.
Leaders of Pakistan, UAE, Saudi Arab, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey and Egypt will also attend the conference.
The US president will also seek these leader’s opinions on the current situation in the region. On the other hand, Washington Post, a US publication, has acknowledged that Field Marshal Asim Munir has played a major role in finalizing the draft of a deal between the US and Iran. According to the newspaper, the field marshal remained in contact with the leaders of Iran, the US and Gulf countries, and played an important role in building trust between parties to the conflict. Similarly, as per report published in New York Times, the US and Iran are close to a deal.
The newspaper has described field marshal’s visit to Iran as a diplomacy of a highest level.
