A 20-year-old nurse was shot dead while on duty at a private hospital in the village of Kangra, near Pasrur, in a shocking incident that has prompted a police investigation, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to police, the victim, identified as Saadia, was working at the hospital when an unidentified man entered the premises and opened fire. She sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The incident occurred at a private hospital located in the border-area village of Kangra on the outskirts of Pasrur.
Police said the suspect allegedly seized a firearm from the hospital’s watchman before carrying out the attack.
After shooting the nurse, the assailant fled the scene.
Authorities said the weapon used in the killing has been recovered after being abandoned by the suspect during his escape.
Police officials confirmed that the nurse was targeted while performing her duties at the hospital.
However, the motive behind the killing has not yet been established.
Officers from Sabz Pir Police Station reached the scene shortly after the incident and began collecting evidence.
An investigation has been launched, and efforts are under way to trace and arrest the suspect.
