Streaming giant Netflix has released viewership figures for its most-watched original films of 2026, with science-fiction war thriller War Machine emerging as the platform’s biggest global hit of the year, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
According to Netflix’s global Top 10 charts, “War Machine” recorded more than 128.4 million views worldwide, making it the most-streamed Netflix original film of 2026 so far.
The film, starring Alan Ritchson in the lead role, achieved 39.3 million views in its opening week alone, quickly becoming one of the platform’s fastest-growing releases.
In its second week, the movie added another 44.4 million views, setting what industry observers described as a record for a Netflix film released this year.
Crime thriller The Rip secured second place on the list with 114.7 million views.
The film features Hollywood stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and posted the biggest opening weekend of the year with 41.6 million views.
Survival thriller Apex ranked third with 105.2 million views.
The movie, starring Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton, remained among Netflix’s top trending films for several consecutive weeks.
Shark disaster thriller Thrash came in fourth place with 86.1 million views, while actress Phoebe Dynevor received praise for her performance in the film.
Animated fantasy feature Swapped ranked fifth with 80.6 million views.
The film featured voice performances by Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple.
Romantic comedy People We Meet on Vacation also attracted strong viewership with 54.3 million views, while Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man made the list with 50.6 million views.
