Two dacoits were gunned down and two escaped during a police encounter in Muridke, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
The police encounter took place near Chak No. 34 in the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station, Muridke.
According to details, some dacoits were looting commuters near Chak No. 34 after establishing a picket.
After noticing a Crime Control Department team, the dacoits started firing on the CCD team while trying to escape.
In retaliation, firing by the CCD team two dacoits died on the spot, and two escaped from the scene.
The dead dacoits were later identified as Azhar Bashir, 30, son of Bashir, resident of Manga Mandi, and Faisal, 35, son of Nazar Mohammad of Chunian.
The CCD team cordoned off the entire area and started a search operation to apprehend the culprits.
Regional Officer, Crime Control Department (CCD), Iftikhar Warya, said that anyone who is found involved in criminal activity will be dealt with iron hands.
