The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Assembly will dissolve tonight after completing its full constitutional term. A notification has been issued confirming that the assembly will dissolve itself at 12 midnight on November 24, 2025.
According to the notification, the dissolution process under Article 56(5) of the Governance Reforms 2019 has been completed. The development follows a letter from the GB Assembly Secretariat, after which the Law and Prosecution Department issued the formal notification.
With the assembly completing its five-year constitutional term, the process of establishing a caretaker setup will now begin. The notification, issued under the signature of Secretary Law and Prosecution Sajjad Haider, reiterates that the official dissolution time is set for 12 midnight on November 24, 2025.
A decision regarding the appointment of a caretaker Chief Minister is also likely to be taken in the next few hours.
