Relations between Iran and Pakistan are set to enter a “new strategic phase,” according to Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam, who hailed the Islamabad visit of Dr Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, as a historic moment for both nations.
In a message shared on the social platform X, Ambassador Moghadam described Dr. Larijani’s trip as an “extraordinary visit” that marks “an important turning point” in the longstanding friendship between the neighbouring countries.
“This historical milestone marks an important turning point,” the ambassador noted, emphasizing that the strong and time-tested relations between Iran and Pakistan are poised to deepen further. He added that the visit reflects the readiness of both sides to elevate their partnership: “A milestone where the strong and tested relations between our two brotherly countries are going to enter a new strategic phase.”
Moghadam highlighted that rapidly shifting global dynamics and evolving regional challenges have created a pressing need for more coordinated strategies between Tehran and Islamabad. “In view of the rapidly changing global situation and the new dimensions emerging in our regional environment, there is a need to formulate more strategies between the two countries,” he said.
He stressed that the demand for closer cooperation is now greater than ever. “In these circumstances, the need to further expand bilateral relations between the two countries has increased more than ever.”
The ambassador expressed confidence that Dr. Larijani’s high-level engagements in Pakistan will significantly contribute to strengthening political, security, and economic collaboration. “This important visit will play a significant role in the timely and meaningful fulfillment of this goal,” he stated.
The visit is widely seen as an opportunity for both nations to reaffirm their commitment to regional stability and to explore new avenues for cooperation amidst rapidly evolving geopolitical realities.
