A high-level meeting focused on the promotion of sports in Pakistan and strengthening the country's capacity to host major sporting events was held in Islamabad on Monday, with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in the chair.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the importance of broad-based consultations to ensure effective planning for the future of sports in the country.
The meeting discussed administrative, technical and logistical preparations required for upcoming activities and major sports initiatives.
Senior Punjab minister, Balochistan’s sports minister, the Foreign Secretary, and the Secretary of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) attended the meeting. Provincial sports secretaries and representatives of the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) were also present.
The participants reviewed Pakistan’s potential to host large-scale sports events.
They agreed on the need for coordinated efforts to improve infrastructure, event management, and institutional capacity to elevate the country’s sports profile at regional and international levels.
