Peshawar Zalmi, one of the HBL Pakistan Super League’s most prominent and widely followed franchises, has renewed its franchise rights for another decade, ensuring the team remains under current ownership, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.
The extension, finalised on Monday, follows a transparent valuation process conducted by global audit firm Ernst & Young.
Zalmi, champions of the PSL 2017 season, are among the first teams to commit to a long-term extension at the updated market value.
The renewal underscores the rising commercial appeal of the HBL PSL.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed satisfaction over the development, praising franchise owner Javed Afridi’s dedication.
“I am delighted that Peshawar Zalmi will continue under the leadership of Javed Afridi, whose commitment, professionalism, and passion have elevated the Zalmi brand into one of Pakistan’s most dynamic sporting entities,” he said.
“His decision to renew reflects a strong belief in the league’s future potential and continued success.”
HBL PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer also lauded the franchise’s contribution to the league’s growth.
“Peshawar Zalmi’s energy, inclusivity and deep connection with fans have been central to shaping the identity of the HBL PSL,” he said.
“ Javed Afridi’s forward-thinking approach and consistent support have been vital to the league’s evolution.”
Peshawar Zalmi remain among the most commercially successful PSL franchises, known for strong fan engagement and competitive performances.
