Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif meets Saudi Military Chief of General Staff

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with the Chief of General Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces, General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, in Islamabad on Monday.

Welcoming General Al-Ruwaili, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the Kingdom’s steadfast support and solidarity with Pakistan at all times.

The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s firm resolve to further strengthen the historic brotherly ties with Saudi Arabia across economic, defence, security and other sectors.

He remarked that the relationship between the two nations is rooted in shared faith, common values and deep mutual trust.

The Prime Minister highlighted his highly successful visits to Riyadh over the past two months, during which both sides signed the landmark Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA).

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to deepening bilateral defence cooperation, particularly in joint training, exercises and professional exchanges.

He also underscored the shared resolve of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to combat terrorism and extremism in all forms and to promote peace and stability in the region.

General Al-Ruwaili conveyed greetings from the Saudi leadership to the Prime Minister and the people of Pakistan.

He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s strong desire to elevate the existing robust defence and strategic partnership to new heights.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and other senior officials from both sides.
