The security forces personnel eliminated eight Khwarij terrorists and injured five others during an intelligence-based operation in Lakki Marwat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out in Wandah Sheikhuallh area of Lakki Marwat after receiving intelligence that Khwarij terrorists were active there.
The security sources further said that the Khwarij terrorists could not find enough time escape after the security forces hit them with precision skills.
Later, the security forces carried out a search operation to trace possible presence of more terrorists in the area.
The security sources said the operations against terrorists will continue under National Action Plan (NAP) until the last Khwarij is eliminated and law and order is completely restored.
On Wednesday last, six people were killed when unidentified assailants opened fire on a vehicle at Mir Ali tehsil in the tribal district North Waziristan.
District Police Officer (DPO) Waqar Ahmed Khan confirmed the incident, stating that all six occupants of the vehicle were burned to death. The bodies were completely charred and could not be identified immediately. Samples have been sent for forensic analysis to ascertain their identities.
DPO Waqar Ahmed added that the vehicle was travelling from Mir Ali to Bannu when the gunmen targeted it. Initial investigations suggested that a bullet may have struck the vehicle’s fuel tank, causing it to ignite. However, authorities were also investigating whether the vehicle was deliberately set on fire.
