The Punjab government has launched a crackdown on the sale of unregistered and substandard ophthalmic devices and equipment, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.

According to official sources, a special team led by the Chief Drug Controller Punjab carried out raids at two locations in Lahore earlier today. The first raid was conducted at Lens Eye Surgical, located in C Block, Iqbal Town, while the second operation targeted Sir Distributor in Model Town.

During the operations, authorities seized unregistered and low-quality ophthalmic lenses and other surgical equipment valued at approximately Rs3 million.

Both outlets were sealed on the spot following the discovery of potentially unsafe medical products.

Officials confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against those involved in the sale and distribution of substandard and unregistered medical devices, which pose serious health risks to patients across Punjab.
