In view of possible incidents of terrorism in the province, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab in its intelligence-based operations carried out in several cities, has arrested 13 terrorists, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Spokesman for the CTD said on Saturday that operations were carried out in Lahore, Attock, Bahawalnagar, Jhelum, Bahawalpur, Sheikhupura and Rawalpindi.
Giving further details, he said that five terrorists were picked up from Attock and three from Lahore.
The spokesman elaborated that those taken into custody were Khurshid, Rasheed, Irfan, Luqman, Waheed, Rizwan, Amir and Wajid, and they were planning to attack government offices and other key installations.
He went on to say that bullets, different kinds of weapons, explosive material, 29 detonators, cellphones and cash were also recovered from their possession.
Briefing on CTD’s activities, he said that 105 suspected persons were taken into custody in 625 combing operations during the ongoing week. “As many as 27,229 people were questioned,” he informed.
The spokesman reiterated the CTD’s resolve to keep Punjab safe by eradicating the menace of terrorism.
