Pakistan recorded a sharp rise in foreign inflows during August 2025, with funding jumping 151 percent on an annual basis, according to a report released by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
The country received $679.8 million in foreign funding in August 2025, compared to $270 million during the same month last year.
The report also highlighted a strong upward trend in the first two months of the fiscal year. From July to August 2025, Pakistan secured $1.3774 billion in foreign funding, marking a 93 percent increase from the $714.7 million received in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Out of the total, $1.3449 billion came as foreign loans, while $32.4 million were received in the form of grants, the data showed.
The federal government has projected external financing requirements of over $19.77 billion for the current fiscal year. A major portion of this is expected to come from deposits pledged by friendly countries. The report estimated $9 billion in deposits, including $5 billion from Saudi Arabia and $4 billion from China, as part of safe deposit arrangements.
