Speaker of the People’s Majlis of the Maldives Abdul Raheem Abdullah met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, chief of army staff and chief of defence forces, at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Thursday, the military said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, including regional security and bilateral cooperation.
Field Marshal Munir said Pakistan attached importance to its brotherly relations with the Maldives and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening ties for the mutual benefit of both countries.
Abdullah appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability, according to the ISPR.
He also expressed a desire to deepen bilateral engagement and expand cooperation between Pakistan and the Maldives in areas of mutual interest.
