Asserting that only specific powers have been given to provinces under the 18th Constitutional Amendment, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said on Thursday that the federal government had reservations over the proposed KP Police Act, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that there were limits to the provincial autonomy. “Provinces cannot have an army or railways of their own,” he said, adding similarly, they could not change the PSP rules.
Talal said that the KP government was going to do something, which no other province had done so far.
The minister said that political interference in the proposed Act was quite evident.
The minister said that the KP Police were giving sacrifices in the war on terror despite limited resources.
He accused the KP government of destroying the command-and-control structure of the police, asking if that structure would be destroyed, how would the Force combat terrorism.
He claimed that all 125 routes in the federal capital were open for traffic, and none was closed.
