The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday disposed of the petition filed against the harassment of PTI leaders ahead of the party’s long march on September 27 when the police officials said that neither the leaders had been harassed in the past nor would they be harassed in the future, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Raja Inaam Ameen Minhas heard the petition filed by Shoaib Shaheen, Malik Amir and other PTI leaders.
SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza and DSP Legal Sajid Cheema showed up on the court orders.
Police officials said that if an FIR had been registered against any person, action was taken as per law.
The IHC had on Tuesday summoned the SSP (operations) on September 24 in a petition concerning harassment of PTI leaders and raids on their homes ahead of the party’s scheduled long march to the capital.
The IHC directives came as Justice Raja Inaam Ameen Minhas heard a petition filed by PTI leaders, including Malik Aamir Dogar and Shoaib Shaheen, challenging alleged police harassment and raids on the residences of party leaders.
According to the court order, the petitioners’ counsel informed the judge that police officials were conducting illegal raids on the homes of PTI leaders.
The counsel pleaded that raids could not be conducted without proper legal authorisation and requested the court to restrain Islamabad police officials from violating the sanctity of homes and the privacy of households, the order said.
