Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau on Thursday warned Afghanistan against any confrontation with Pakistan, saying the country was prepared to defend its sovereignty.
In a statement, Langau urged Afghanistan to abandon what he called misconceptions and acknowledge the ground realities instead of pushing the region towards another war.
He said Afghanistan should opt for peaceful coexistence with Pakistan as a neighbouring country rather than engage in conflict or, in his words, serve the interests of other states.
“Afghanistan is our brotherly neighbouring country,” Langau said, adding that the Afghan people should also be spared the suffering caused by war.
The provincial home minister said Pakistan’s armed forces were ready at the borders and warned that any hostile move against the country would receive a strong response.
Langau said Afghanistan was under the misconception that it had defeated the Soviet Union and was now acting under the belief that it had become a major power.
He also alleged that Afghanistan was seeking confrontation with Pakistan with financial backing from India and Israel.
The home minister warned that if Afghanistan chose war with Pakistan, it would face defeat.
