Pakistani film actress Meera has made an emotional appeal to the UK government, seeking assistance with her visa so she can travel to London and visit her sister, Shaista Abbas, whom she says is battling cancer at an advanced stage.
A video circulating on social media features Meera making a heartfelt request to officials at the UK embassy, as well as government representatives in Pakistan and London, urging them to consider her situation on humanitarian grounds.
In the video, Meera said that she is currently in New York and wants to travel to London to see her ailing sister.
Addressing the officials, she said, “At this time, I am in New York, and this is a shoutout to the London embassy and all the government officials in Pakistan and London who work at the embassy.”
She went on to explain that her sister Shaista Ijaz is currently in London and, according to Meera, is a “last-stage cancer patient” whose health has been deteriorating with each passing day.
Meera also revealed that her mother and younger brother are currently in London, making her desire to be with her sister during this difficult period even more urgent.
“I want to meet my sister. My appeal and request to all of you is, please issue my visa for the sake of humanity,” she pleaded.
The actress’s emotional request comes as she seeks the opportunity to reunite with her family and spend time with her sister amid her reported health struggles.
Meera’s appeal has drawn attention online, particularly because of the personal and emotional circumstances behind her request, as she looks to travel to London to be by her sister’s side.
