Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has directed advance arrangements to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Ali Pervaiz Malik was chairing a meeting on ensuring uninterrupted supply of petroleum products and implementation of the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme in Islamabad on Thursday.
The minister said petroleum products should not face any disruption in case of law and order issues or road closures.
The Additional Secretary Railways assured that Pakistan Railways would make maximum train wagons available for diesel transportation in case of road closures, particularly to ensure supplies to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Pakistan State Oil was directed to ensure adequate fuel stocks at depots through advance planning.
The OGRA has also established a special control room to ensure uninterrupted availability of petroleum products.
Ali Pervaiz Malik directed that necessary measures be taken to ensure uninterrupted supply of crude oil to Attock Refinery and transportation of refined products.
He said uninterrupted supply of petroleum products and effective implementation of the Prime Minister's Fuel Relief Scheme are among the government’s top priorities.
The meeting was informed that payments have been made to more than 8,500 out of 10,000 petrol pumps under the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme. Officials said the process of payments to petrol pumps is continuing on a daily basis.
The minister also directed OGRA to take action against petrol pumps that deprive eligible consumers of fuel relief.
The Petroleum Dealers Association assured the government of full cooperation in the successful implementation of the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Pakistan Railways, OGRA, Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), oil marketing companies (OMCs), Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA), All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association (APPPDA) and relevant officials.
The minister appreciated the petroleum dealers’ associations for their cooperation and full support for the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme.
