Nadia Khan has opened up about a career decision she still regrets, revealing that she once turned down a role in Shoaib Mansoor’s hit film Bol despite wanting to be part of the project.
The actress and television host recently discussed the missed opportunity on Kya Drama Hai, where she recalled how Shoaib Mansoor personally tried to convince her to join the film.
Nadia said she wanted to do Bol, but problems at home made the situation difficult. She revealed that there was a fight in her family after she received the offer and that her former husband did not allow her to work in the movie.
“I regret refusing Bol to Shoaib Mansoor,” Nadia said, admitting that she felt she had disappointed the filmmaker after he had made considerable efforts to convince her.
She also made it clear that she genuinely wanted to take the role and, looking back, believes she should have accepted the opportunity.
The role was eventually played by Humaima Malick, who appeared as Zainab in the 2011 film. Nadia had previously revealed that Shoaib Mansoor had approached her for the role, but she was unable to accept it because of opposition from her husband and family.
During the recent conversation, Nadia explained that she was not in a position at the time to make the decision freely. She specifically identified her former husband as the person who stopped her from taking the film.
The discussion also drew a sharp response from fellow panelist Atiqa Odho, who suggested that Nadia should have taken a stand for herself at that stage of her life.
Mukarram Kaleem also pointed out the irony of the situation, noting that the film was titled Bol, meaning “speak up,” and suggested that Nadia should have spoken up for her career.
Nadia’s admission has once again brought attention to the role she could have played in Bol. The film, written and directed by Shoaib Mansoor, went on to become one of the notable Pakistani films of its time, while Humaima Malick became closely associated with the character of Zainab.
