Acting Foreign Secretary Ambassador Khalil Hashmi met a delegation of members of the European Parliament and discussed Pakistan-EU relations, the GSP+ scheme, legislative reforms and the regional situation, the Foreign Office said.
The European Parliament delegation was led by Mary Khan-Holoch of Germany’s AfD party.
According to the Foreign Office, the two sides held a frank and constructive exchange of views on different aspects of Pakistan’s relations with the European Union.
The European lawmakers appreciated Pakistan’s role in mediation efforts related to the US-Iran conflict and expressed understanding of Pakistan’s position on key issues, the spokesperson said.
The meeting provided both sides an opportunity to better understand each other’s perspectives on matters of mutual interest.
Pakistan and the European Union maintain institutional engagement covering political, economic, trade and other areas, while Pakistan benefits from preferential access to the EU market under the GSP+ scheme.
The two sides agreed on the importance of maintaining continued dialogue and engagement between Pakistan and the European Union.
