Lack of interest on the part of senior doctors to apply for jobs at Islamabad’s Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has prompted the hospital administration to postpone the tests for filling vacant seats of professors (grade 20), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has decided to readvertise these posts, and in this connection issued a public notice on Thursday.
In its notice, the FPSC said that the tests had to be postponed on account of insufficient number of candidates. “Out of six categories for professors, not a single application was received for three categories,” the notice stated, adding that no application was received for Dermatology, Emergency Medicine and Pulmonology departments, while only five applications were received for Cardiac Surgery, Neonatology and Pediatric surgery.
Phase-III of the tests for filling the vacancies of professors was scheduled to be held this year.
Now, under the new arrangement, the candidates who have already submitted their applications, would not need to apply afresh.
