Security forces have killed eight members of the Fitna-al-Khawaraj during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan as part of ongoing actions against militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reported 24NewsHD TV reported on Thursday.
According to the TV channel report, security forces carried out an effective operation against militant positions in the area and completely destroyed their hideouts.
Security sources said a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and other equipment was recovered from the militants who were killed during the operation.
The sources said the militants had allegedly attempted to use a mosque as a shield to evade the security forces. They said the forces took great care to respect the sanctity of the mosque while targeting the militants with precision.
Security sources said the security forces remained committed to eliminating militant groups from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for the successful operation in North Waziristan.
Mohsin Naqvi also commended their professional capabilities following the killing of eight militants.
He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained on the frontline in the fight against terrorism and that security forces were determined to eliminate terrorism from the country.
He said the operations reflected the security forces' commitment to protecting national security. He added that the nation stood alongside the security forces in the fight against terrorism.
