T20 World Cup 2024 display in Islamabad excites fans

Trophy will be taken to Abbottabad tomorrow and finally will be displayed at Gaddafi Stadium during last T20 match between Pakistan and New Zealand teams

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024’s trophy has arrived in Islamabad after the Trophy Tour began last month in the United States of America, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The ICC T20 World Cup trophy is currently on display in front of the National Assembly of Pakistan in Islamabad.

Earlier, The trophy was displayed at Pakistan Monuments in Islamabad where cricket fans and people from different walks of life took selfies with the trophy.

A huge number of fans gathered to witness the historic tour of the World T20 trophy and took pictures. They also hoped that the trophy would make Pakistan its next home after the World Cup as the fans are highly optimistic regarding Pakistan’s chances of lifting the coveted trophy in the USA later this year.

The coveted trophy will be brought to the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Saturday and will be displayed at the Gaddafi Stadium during the last T20 match of the five-match series between Pakistan and New Zealand.

During its stay in Pakistan, the T20 World Cup trophy will visit Abbottabad as well.

The T20 World Cup 2024 will commence on 1 June with co-hosts USA taking on arch-rival Canada, while fellow hosts the West Indies will play Papua New Guinea in Guyana on the second day of group play.

Pakistan is in Group A with arch-rival India and the two sides will take on one another in the World Cup match on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.

A total of three venues in the USA and six in the Caribbean will be used for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 as the groups and fixtures for the ninth edition of the 20-over showcase were announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Ten of the 20 teams will play their first match of the 29-day tournament in the USA, with 16 contests to be held in Lauderhill, Dallas and New York and the blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan scheduled for the new Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in Long Island on 9 June.

The trophy will visit a total of 15 countries across four continents where it will be graced by legendary cricketers in some of the best stadiums in the world.

Apart from renowned cricketing nations, the trophy will also visit emerging countries like Brazil, Argentina, Canada and others so that people can connect with the sport and raise their interest in it.

It is pertinent to mention that 20 qualifying teams are divided into four groups of five, from which the top two teams of every group will make their way to the Super 8 round.

This is the first time the World Cup will be hosted by the US. England are the defending champions after clinching the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, beating Pakistan in the final.
