A 22-year-old lawyer Leticia Paul lost her life after suffering a severe allergic reaction during a CT scan at Alto Vale Regional Hospital, Brazil, 24NewsHD TV reported.

According to media reports, the young lawyer was undergoing a contrast-enhanced CT scan last Wednesday when she went into anaphylactic shock, a rare but life-threatening allergic reaction triggered by the contrast dye injected before the imaging procedure.

Her aunt told reporters that Leticia was rushed for emergency treatment immediately after the reaction, but despite medical efforts, her condition deteriorated.

She passed away less than 24 hours later, leaving her family and community in shock.

Anaphylactic shock occurs when the body reacts severely to an allergen, causing symptoms such as swelling of the throat, airway constriction, rapid drop in blood pressure, and difficulty breathing.

Leticia, described as a bright and dedicated young lawyer, had a promising career ahead of her. Her sudden death has sparked grief among her peers and raised concerns about the risks associated with contrast agents used in medical imaging, even though such reactions are extremely rare.
