The Punjab School Education Department is considering taking back government schools outsourced under the first three phases of its outsourcing programme, with officials summoned to discuss the proposed return of the institutions to departmental control.
A meeting on the issue will be held on August 25 under the chairmanship of the Punjab School Education Secretary, with chief executive officers of education authorities from all districts expected to attend.
The meeting will review schools outsourced under phases one, two and three and consider cases where returning their management to the department may be necessary.
Officials will also examine pending court cases and resistance from local communities related to the outsourced schools.
Other issues on the agenda include low student enrolment, dangerous or dilapidated school buildings and institutions located in inaccessible or sensitive areas.
The School Education Secretary has directed all district CEOs to bring complete records of the schools concerned and provide reasons and supporting arguments for cases proposed for return to departmental control.
A final decision is expected after reviewing the information submitted by district education authorities.
