Senior govt official reported missing in Islamabad

A Deputy Director of the Federal Ministry of Health, Naeem Akhtar, has been reported missing in the limits of Bani Gala Police Station, with police launching an investigation into the matter.

According to police sources, Naeem Akhtar, aged around 55 to 56, has been missing since Sunday evening.

His family approached Bani Gala police after the officer could not be traced. Police have started a formal investigation into his disappearance on the family’s request.

Police sources said Naeem Akhtar left his home in Bani Gala at around 5pm on August 24. However, he did not return home and his whereabouts remain unknown.

His car was later found near the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), but the officer himself could not be traced.

Police have begun collecting information and investigating the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Efforts are also underway to determine his movements after he left his residence.

Authorities are also looking into the circumstances in which Naeem Akhtar’s vehicle was found near PIMS and are trying to establish whether he travelled to the area himself or whether there were other factors involved.

The police investigation is continuing, while the family remains concerned over the officer’s whereabouts.
