Samsung is reportedly planning to enter the tri-fold market, following Huawei's lead but with its own unique design. Unlike Huawei's Z-style fold, Samsung's tri-fold is expected to feature a G-shaped fold, offering the advantage that the folding screen remains completely protected when the device is closed—unlike the Huawei Mate XT, where the screen is exposed. However, Samsung’s design would require a secondary cover screen.
A new rumor from South Korea suggests that Samsung will unveil its tri-fold device alongside the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, likely in July, following the same timeline as last year. Parts for the device are expected to be procured starting in April, with mass production rumored to begin around that time.
The tri-fold is said to have a 9.96-inch display when fully unfolded, and a 6.49-inch cover screen. Samsung is reportedly planning to produce only around 200,000 units, with the device's release potentially limited to select countries.
