The Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation has formally approached Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, seeking the construction of an international-standard bowling court in the country.
In a letter addressed to the prime minister, Federation President Ijaz-ur-Rehman highlighted the absence of a facility in Pakistan that meets international standards for tenpin bowling. He stated that the lack of such infrastructure has been a major hurdle in promoting the sport at the global level.
Ijaz-ur-Rehman noted that the Executive Committee of the Pakistan Sports Board has twice approved the construction of an international-standard bowling court. However, he said that despite the passage of several years, the decisions have yet to be implemented.
The federation president emphasized that establishing a world-class bowling facility would enable Pakistan to bid for and potentially host the 2027 Bowling World Cup. He said the event could attract players from as many as 134 countries.
According to Ijaz-ur-Rehman, hosting the 2027 World Cup in Pakistan would not only boost the sport domestically but also contribute to the promotion of tourism and enhance the country’s international image.
The federation has urged the prime minister to take immediate steps to ensure the execution of the long-pending project.
