The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday held a workshop at Gaddafi Stadium to brief stakeholders on the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) player auction, which is scheduled to take place on February 11, 24NewsHD TV reported.
The workshop was jointly chaired by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and PSL chief executive Salman Naseer.
Representatives of all eight PSL franchises, along with national team players, attended the session.
Leading Pakistan cricketers Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi were also present.
Officials outlined key features of the upcoming auction, confirming that all bids would be conducted in Pakistani rupees.
The base price for the top player category has been set at Rs420 million.
The PCB also announced minimum incremental bidding slabs for the auction.
Each franchise will be required to field squads comprising between 16 and 20 players.
Under revised regulations, PSL teams must include three to four overseas players in their playing XI.
Franchises will also be required to add two under-23 uncapped players to their squads.
The PCB confirmed that players selected for PSL 11 would be offered two-year contracts.
It was also announced that a “grand auction” would be held after the conclusion of PSL 12.
For PSL 11, franchises will be allowed to directly sign one overseas player, provided the player did not feature in PSL 10.
The franchise budget has been increased from Rs45 million to Rs55 million.
Addressing the participants, Naqvi assured franchises that the PCB would ensure a level playing field for all teams. He said extensive consultations were held on player retention limits and other auction-related matters.
PSL CEO Salman Naseer briefed attendees on the structure and objectives of the workshop, while officials also presented detailed guidelines on the auction process, bidding mechanisms and squad formation rules.
Franchise owners, senior PCB officials and players participated in the session, offering feedback and suggestions as the league prepares for its next edition.
