Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur Wenesday presided over a meeting of the Department of Tourism, attended by provincial cabinet members, the chief secretary, and senior tourism department officials.
The meeting focused on the better management and maintenance of the department's rest houses, with a decision in principle to revise the lease policy to boost provincial revenue.
The new long-term lease policy aims to attract substantial private investment. The lease periods will be adjusted based on the scale of investment.
A committee, comprising relevant cabinet members and other officials, will be formed to suggest necessary amendments to the lease policy within a week. Additionally, the meeting decided to activate a company under the Department of Tourism to oversee all lease-related matters.
The Chief Minister directed amendments to relevant laws for forming a technical committee for the Tourism Department and expedited the appointment of the Board of Directors of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA). He also instructed to outsource the camping pods managed by the tourism department as soon as possible and to digitize the inventory of government assets.
