Terrorists launched air-and-ground attack on a police post in Bannu late Thursday night but were beaten back by the cops, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
The terrorists bombed the Muzanga police post by using a quadcopter and later attacked it with small and heavy weapons from different sides.
The checkpost is located in the jurisdiction of Hodki Police Station in Bannu.
No loss of life was reported so far. This is the second terrorist attack in the area during the last six hours.
Earlier, a Frontier Corps (FC) constable was martyred and two others were injured when terrorists attacked their vehicle in the Daryoba area of Bannu district.
A statement from Bannu Police Spokesperson Aamir Khan said “two terrorists” atop motorcycles attacked the FC vehicle, killing one constable and injuring two others.
He added that a terrorist was injured in retaliatory firing and the assailants fled soon after.
Interestingly, the drone attack by terrorists came hours after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur vowed not to allow any military operation or drone strikes in the province.
Gandapur criticized the federal government for excluding his administration from discussions, specifically pointing to separate visits to Kabul by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi without prior consultation with the KP government.
The exchange highlights deepening tensions between the federal and provincial governments over counterterrorism strategy and coordination with Afghanistan.

In response, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that all available resources would be used in the fight against terrorism.
