The central procession of the 9th of Muharram reached Melody Chowk in Islamabad on Thursday evening, with thousands of mourners participating in the religious gathering amid strict security arrangements, 24NewsHD TV reported.
According to officials, Maghrib and Isha prayers will be offered at Melody Chowk before the procession resumes its journey.
The procession will then proceed through Melody Chowk and Luqman Hakeem Road before concluding at the Central Imambargah Asna Ashari.
The procession had earlier emerged from the Central Imambargah Asna Ashari after Zuhr and Asr prayers.
Participants continued to perform matam and recite nohas as they moved along the designated route.
Traditional religious symbols, including Zuljanah, Alam, Tazia, Taboot, and the cradle of Hazrat Ali Asghar (RA), were part of the procession.
Organisers also arranged milk and water stalls for mourners along the route.
The district government has enforced extensive security measures to ensure the safety of participants.
Police, Rangers, and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel have been deployed along the route, while aerial surveillance and monitoring via Safe City cameras are being conducted continuously.
