Pakistani actress and activist Ayesha Omar has expressed profound grief and outrage over the reported rape and murder of a three year old girl lamenting the recurring violence against children and questioning society's ability to protect its daughters.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, the actress shared a series of emotional posts condemning the horrific incident and calling for greater accountability.
"Uffffff. And yet another child's body found, sexually assaulted and murdered brutally. We haven't even processed the previous horror yet. The environment all over Pakistan is barbaric. I'm shaken... so so so angry... and feeling so hopeless about this country. And that's what they want. For women to always be fearful and hopeless," she wrote.
Ayesha further questioned whether perpetrators of such crimes are ever brought to justice, while urging men to play a more active role in challenging harmful behavior within their own communities.
"Will the perpetrator be found? Punished? No. Not all men? Not all men but always men. Only men. And when men start to speak up, step up, hold other men accountable, only then will this start to change," she added.
In another story, the actress shared a brief but poignant message, stating, "Pakistan failing its daughters. Ya Allah Reham," expressing sorrow over the country's inability to ensure the safety of young girls.
Concluding her series of posts, Ayesha appealed for stronger protection of women and children, writing, "May Pakistan defend the dignity and safety of its daughters as fiercely as it defends its borders and as skillfully as it conducts its diplomacy."
