Pakistani actress Sonya Hussyn has penned a deeply emotional birthday tribute for veteran actress, director, and cancer warrior Angeline Malik, crediting her for profoundly influencing both her personal outlook and professional journey.
Taking to Instagram, Sonya shared a heartfelt video of Angeline celebrating her birthday and accompanied it with a lengthy note expressing admiration, gratitude, and love for her long time mentor.
“There are people who walk into your life for a season, and then there are people who quietly change the way you see the world forever. You have always been that person for me,” Sonya wrote.
Recalling her early days in showbiz, the actress revealed that she first met Angeline as a young girl while working on one of her sets, unaware that the experience would leave a lasting impact on her perspective about life and womanhood.
Sonya remembered their first short film, which revolved around a woman standing up against an abusive husband, saying it taught her an invaluable lesson.
“Until then, I didn’t know that a woman could simply say ‘no’ to something she wasn’t comfortable with, without being ashamed or afraid of being judged,” she shared.
She further reflected on the many projects they worked on together, noting that each story centered around women who embraced dignity, exercised their voices, and refused to settle for less than they deserved.
“While we were creating stories for television, you were unknowingly shaping the mind of a little girl who was watching, learning, and growing,” Sonya added.
Calling Angeline, a defining influence in her life, the actress praised her unwavering resilience, particularly during her battle with cancer.
“I’ve seen you go through moments when life itself seemed determined to break you. But every single time, you stood back up. You never allowed your circumstances to define you,” she wrote.
Sonya also commended Angeline for confronting cancer with remarkable courage, saying that everyone whose life she has touched is immensely proud of her strength, perseverance, and inspiring spirit.
“Thank you for raising generations of stronger women, not just through your work, but through your life and your example. You are and always will be my inspiration,” she concluded.
It is worth mentioning that Angeline Malik was diagnosed with Grade 3C ovarian adenocarcinoma, a form of ovarian cancer often described as a “silent killer.”
She has openly documented her treatment journey, including surgery and chemotherapy, to raise awareness about early detection and encourage women to listen to their bodies. Angeline also shaved her head in solidarity with fellow chemotherapy patients, challenging conventional beauty standards while inspiring countless women with her resilience.
