Pakistani actress Sidra Niazi has joined the growing chorus of voices demanding stronger protections for children following the tragic death of seven year old Muntaha Zahra, urging authorities and society alike to move beyond temporary outrage and ensure meaningful change.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, the actress shared an image featuring young victims Zainab and Muntaha alongside an emotional message questioning society's repeated inability to safeguard its most vulnerable members.
"Why do we keep failing those who are most vulnerable? We can’t keep mourning, posting and moving on as if these tragedies are just another headline. How many more innocent lives must be lost before real change happens? How many more children must pay the price for our collective failure to protect them?" she wrote.
The actress's post referred to the case of seven-year-old Muntaha Zahra. According to reports, the child went to a nearby grocery store to purchase household items but never returned home. CCTV footage reportedly captured her entering the shop, while investigators later recovered her body from the residential area above the same premises. Authorities stated that preliminary medical findings indicated physical abuse and strangulation.

Sidra also invoked the name of Zainab, referencing the widely publicized 2018 Kasur case, to underscore concerns that despite heightened awareness and stricter legislation introduced over the years, crimes against children continue to occur.

Criticizing what she described as a recurring cycle of grief and forgetfulness, the actress emphasized that social media condolences alone are insufficient and called for sustained efforts to strengthen child protection mechanisms, improve law enforcement responses, and ensure accountability for perpetrators.
