A woman was killed by her son during an argument over food in Burewala's Mujahid Colony on Thursday.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred amid severe financial hardship faced by the family.
Police said the suspect allegedly became enraged after his mother refused his demand for food and subsequently attacked both his mother and sister.
During the assault, the accused allegedly struck his mother with the lid of a pressure cooker, causing fatal injuries.
The woman succumbed to her wounds, while her daughter was also injured in the attack.
Speaking to the police, the daughter claimed that the suspect not only subjected their mother to violence but also assaulted her during the incident.
Upon receiving information, City Police reached the scene, took the suspect into custody, and shifted the deceased woman's body to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.
