Australia and New Zealand have begun the process of selecting host cities and venues for the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday.
Tournament organisers said 10 venues will be confirmed by the end of this year for the event, which will be jointly staged by Australia and New Zealand in October and November 2028.
The 11th edition of the men’s T20 World Cup will feature 20 teams and a total of 55 matches, maintaining the expanded format used in recent editions of the tournament.
Australia and New Zealand are co-hosts of the event, which will be one of the biggest cricket tournaments held in the southern hemisphere.
Joel Morrison, chief executive of the 2028 T20 World Cup organising committee, said the event was expected to bring people together on a global scale and would require strong collaboration across multiple sectors.
“This event will be an opportunity to connect people globally,” Morrison said, adding that partnerships with governments, commercial and broadcast stakeholders, and local communities would be essential to delivering the tournament.
The 2028 event will be the first time New Zealand hosts a men’s T20 World Cup, while Australia will stage the tournament for the second time after previously hosting the 2022 edition.
