England batsman Ben Duckett has withdrawn from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, citing a need to focus on his international career and preserve his long-term prospects, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
According to a statement released, he said, “This was a difficult decision. I apologize to all my teammates for not being able to join the squad,” Duckett said.
“After careful consideration, I believe this is the best choice for my career. At 31, I may not get another chance to play in the IPL, but I want to keep that hope alive for the future.”
According to sports reports, Duckett had signed with Delhi Capitals for the 2026 season after being purchased for Rs 6 crore in the December auction.
By withdrawing, he will be ineligible to participate in the IPL until 2029.
