A rain emergency has been declared in Karachi following a forecast of showers by the Met Office, prompting authorities to activate municipal services across the city.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad directed all relevant departments to remain on high alert to deal with any emergency situation arising from the expected rainfall.
All necessary machinery, including suction pumps, has been deployed at major roads and underpasses to prevent water accumulation and ensure smooth drainage.
In addition, city wardens have been instructed to remain on duty to maintain the flow of traffic and minimise disruptions.
The deputy mayor emphasised that providing maximum relief and facilities to citizens remains the administration’s top priority, as the city prepares to cope with the anticipated weather conditions.
