These daily wagers will now receive the amounts directly on their mobile bank accounts, while their verification will be done through an SMS or biometric.

Commenting on the chief minister’s decision, Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that transparency is CM Maryam’s motto. “Now, in every government department, payments will be made in a transparent manner,” she has said, adding, “Corruption, delay and other issues with the cash system are now part of history.”

Marriyum has further said that the Forest Department, in collaboration with the Bank of Punjab, has completed all arrangements for the branchless banking system.

The minister has said that this step by the Punjab government will restore labour class’s trust by providing them economic protection.
