Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed deputy commissioners and district police officers to ensure strict checking of buses and bus terminals ahead of Eidul Azha across the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a statement issued in Lahore on Monday, CM Maryam Nawaz directed the authorities concerned to ensure display of official fare lists on every bus and at all bus stands to prevent overcharging of passengers.
Maryam Nawaz also directed to cancel the route permits of buses involved in overcharging and revoke the licences of bus terminals violating regulations.
Punjab Transport Department has established helpline 1071 for redressal of passengers’ complaints and commuters can report overcharging by calling the helpline.
