In an important development in the case of a ban on former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan’s X account, the Adiala Jail superintendent on Tuesday told the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that the former prime minister’s account was not being operated from inside the jail, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He said that there was somebody else who was operating his account from outside the jail.
He said that the statements given by Imran in the past had on several occasions fanned violence.
He further said that the PTI founder in Adiala Jail was under strict surveillance, and that he and his staff were always frisked.
The superintendent informed the high court that the former prime minister did not have a cellphone or any other prohibited item in the jail because such items were not allowed under the jail rules. “Besides that, cellphone signals jammers are installed inside the jail,” he said, adding due to that, there is neither mobile phone service at the jail premises, but also in its surroundings.
The superintendent went on to say that Jail Rule 265 barred the PTI founder from making political statements. “During the jail trial, family members and lawyers of Imran meet with him,” he said, adding, “During these interactions, they discuss politics with him in violation of rules.”
