Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar said on Tuesday that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander Noor Wali Mehsud had masterminded the November 11 suicide attack at Islamabad’s Judicial Complex, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Attaullah Tarar said that the terrorists, who were all Afghans, were in contact with Khawarij in Afghanistan. “They received training from Afghanistan,” the minister added.
He further said that the law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) had arrested four suspects within 48 hours of the attack. “Fortunately, due to tight security, the suicide bomber failed to hit a high-value target.”
Tarar informed that the suicide bomber belonged to Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
He, on the occasion, played a confessional video by one of the suspects, Sajidullah alias Sheena, in which he disclosed that a TTP commander, belonging to Bajaur, called him and asked him to come to Afghanistan. “And when I reached Kabul from Jalalabad, I was briefed about attack in Islamabad,” Sheena revealed.
Tarar was briefing the media in Islamabad today, about the progress in investigation of the incident.
He said the arrested individuals and the suicide bomber had direct links with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He added that these militants had got training from the terror camps in Afghanistan.
He said they were deeply aggrieved at the loss of precious innocent lives in the attack but the incident could have been worst had the suicide bomber been able to get inside the court.
The minister reaffirmed that the government is making all-out efforts for the security of the people and the country.
He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is having special emphasis on ensuring law and order and the security forces and law enforcement agencies are also fully active to eliminate the menace of terrorism.
