Inter-Services Public Relations Director General (ISPR DG) Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Tuesday said that Pakistan did not carry out any attack inside Afghanistan and urged the Taliban government to act as a responsible state rather than a non-state actor.
During a briefing with senior anchorpersons, the ISPR DG said Pakistan always makes an official announcement when it conducts an operation and said that the country never targets civilians.
He reiterated that Pakistan sees no distinction between “good” and “bad” Taliban, asserting that terrorism in any form is unacceptable.
He questioned how long the Taliban administration would continue to function as an interim government and urged it to take decisions like a sovereign state.
Regarding former ISI chief General Faiz Hameed, Lt Gen Sharif said that the case is a legal matter and warned against unnecessary speculation.
He assured that once the proceedings reach a final conclusion, the result will be made public.
He demanded an immediate ban on non-custom-paid vehicles, sharing that such vehicles had been used in several acts of terrorism.
“We are a state and we respond like a state,” he said, adding that it is not possible for Pakistan to be attacked while simultaneously conducting business as usual.
The DG ISPR clarified that Pakistan’s stance is not against the Afghan people, but against terrorism.
He said recent actions demonstrate that there is no difference between Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan and the TTP. “We are on the right, and the right will prevail,” he asserted.
Lt Gen Sharif also revealed that certain social media accounts operating against the interests of Pakistan are being run from abroad, including some linked to a political party. He said these accounts are engaged in an anti-state narrative.
He further stated that since November 4, Pakistan has conducted 4,910 counter-terrorism operations — averaging 232 operations per day — during which 336 terrorist incidents were recorded.
