A rare Indus blind dolphin was found dead near the Nerli Minor canal in the Obaro area, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.

The endangered species, considered one of the world’s rarest freshwater dolphins, was spotted lying along the bank of the canal near Reti Police Station in Ghotki district.

According to locals, the cause of the dolphin’s death could not be immediately determined.

They said the animal appeared to have drifted to the edge of the canal before being discovered.

Locals also attempted to contact the Wildlife Protection Department to report the incident, but efforts to reach the officials were unsuccessful.

The discovery has raised concerns about the safety of endangered aquatic species in the region, especially in waterways where monitoring remains limited.
