DCO Railways Anam Ali carried out surprise inspections on multiple trains and stations, resulting in the recovery of more than Rs1 million from 1,201 passengers travelling without tickets.
Additionally, fines exceeding Rs180,000 were collected during the enforcement drive.
The operation was conducted across several major trains including Tezgam, Ghauri Express, Badar Express, Karachi Express, Jaffar Express and Karakoram, among others.
During the inspections, Anam Ali also reviewed the hygiene conditions and facilities provided to passengers, with particular focus on washrooms, seating and general cleanliness.
A detailed examination of food quality served in dining cars was also carried out to ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
DCO Railways further conducted surprise visits to various railway stations including Lahore, expressing serious displeasure over unsatisfactory cleanliness conditions at platforms and vendor stalls.
Penalties amounting to thousands of rupees were imposed on several stall owners, while substandard or unauthorised products were confiscated.
Commercial Inspector Faisal Nazir and other railway officials accompanied the DCO throughout the operation.
