The National Institute of Health (NIH) is still facing shortage of anti-allergy vaccine, which is causing a loss of Rs1.2 million to Rs1.5 million daily, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Sources said that 1,200 to 1,500 patients are returning home daily due to the unavailability of the vaccine.
Overall, NIH bears loss of billions of rupees and is asking patients to come again after two weeks.
NIH Anti-Allergy Center Incharge Dr. Zulfiqar Soomro, said that we will bring the situation under control soon, as it took time to ensure the availability of phenol.
He said, “When a vaccine is made, it goes through different stages.” The vaccine undergoes a 10 to 15-day experimental process.
The In-Charge of Allergy Center said, “The process is completed to protect patients from any reactions.”
Dr. Zulfiqar Soomro said, “Phenol became available last week, still in the testing stages.”
